The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB)—under the authority of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)—have mandated that all industries falling under the “Red” and “Orange” categories (high and medium pollution potential) must display real-time environmental monitoring data at the entrance or an easily visible location outside their premises.
✅ Key Compliance Requirements:
Installation of Display Boards
Industries must install LED-based digital display boards that are visible to the public and authorities.
Boards must display real-time values of key pollution parameters, such as:
Air Quality: PM2.5, PM10, SO₂, NOx
Effluent Quality: pH, COD, BOD, TSS (as applicable)
Emission Levels from stack or process
Data Integration
The display board must pull live data from the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) or Online Effluent Monitoring System (OEEMS) installed on-site.
Data must be transmitted to the CPCB/MPCB servers in real time through online connectivity.
Visibility and Readability
The board should be:
Located at the main gate or public-facing wall
Large and bright enough to be read from a distance of at least 50-100 feet
Operational 24x7, including power backup if necessary
Standardized Format
The information should be displayed in a uniform format as prescribed by CPCB guidelines.
It should include the name of the unit, location, and pollution parameters with permissible and actual values.
⚖️ Why This Is Required
This directive stems from orders by the Hon’ble Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT), which emphasize transparency, public awareness, and environmental accountability. By displaying pollution data publicly:
Citizens can stay informed about local environmental quality.
Authorities can easily monitor and audit industrial compliance.
Industries demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
⚠️ Non-Compliance Consequences
Industries that fail to install or maintain compliant display boards may face:
Fines or show-cause notices
Suspension of environmental clearance or CTO (Consent to Operate)
Legal action under the Air and Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Acts
If you're setting up a Pollution Parameter Display Board and want to ensure 100% compliance with CPCB/MPCB norms, YCLED India offers fully compliant, pre-approved PPDB solutions tailored to your industry and location.
